  39 .Pa /etc/phones
  40 contains the system-wide
  41 private phone numbers for the

  44 This file is normally unreadable, and so may contain
  45 privileged information.
  46 The format of the file is a series of lines
  47 of the form: <system-name>[\ \et]*<phone-number>.
  48 The system name is
  49 one of those defined in the
  50 .Xr remote 5
  51 file and the phone number is constructed from any sequence of
  52 characters terminated only by ``,'' or the end of the line.
  53 The ``='' and ``*'' characters are
  54 indicators to the auto call units to pause and wait for a second dial
  55 tone (when going through an exchange).

  58 and the ``*'' is required by the
  59 .Tn BIZCOMP
